You know your life has begun when you have something to go to therapy for. Welcome to just another trivial story of another twenty, ahem, nearly thirtysomething.

A FOST MISTO! (it was awesome)

It was a success. And I measure success by how many times I heard the word "misto" which roughly translates to "cool." All I can say is Thank GOd!. At five o'clock I wasn't so sure that there would even be a haunted house. Five o'clock, friday and nothing was done. The haunted house was supposed to open at seven and I was starting to freak out. None of the kids were dressed, the "house" looked like a cross between a dirty classroom and a garbage dump ( due to the amount of black plastic trash bags used to make the walls dark), and the worst part was every two seconds someone shrieked my name from accross the maddness. "Nina, Nina, NINA!" It sounded like an irritating ambulance siren. Two seconds from meltdown I got a second wind of patience. I stopped worrying and I started enjoying the maddness. Nothing really ever gets done until the last moment anyway. That is life for you. ANd yes, miraculously three minutes before seven we connected the last lightbulb, lit the jack o' lanterns and started the music. Two hundred kids came through. I heard that outside was insanity ( imagine if you will two hundred kids pushing to come in. Lines don't exist in Romania!). Luckily I was hidden beneath a table, grabbing the legs of kids as they passed by ( which still wasn't the safest place. I got kicked in the head twice by passing 12th graders). At one point Theo and Bogdan two of my 11th graders thought it would be funny to use an aerosal can and a candle to blast fire into kids faces. I soon put a stop to that. I am very glad that there was no fire. I It is a miracle actually that there was no fire..there were lightbulbs connected with makeshift wiring, candles and dried leaves not to mention the fire blowing antics. If any fireman would have seen it they would have had a heart attack. Afterward we cleaned up a bit and went for a drink. It was a good night. The kids already asked if we could do it again next year. They really pulled it off. Their costumes by the way were excellent. We had a cave woman and a frightening butcher. We had two mad scientists, a witch, a couple of gypsies. I was a dead bunica ( grandmother). I went to the second hand store and bought this really awfull skirt and I had boots and tights and wool socks all complete with a babushka on my head it was funny. The painted black around my eyes. I had fun. I was really proud of them, it was the perfect end to the week. I took a lot of pictures so hopefully I will be able to upload them onto the blog.
So on to more exciting things. SARA WILSON if you are reading this....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mom told me and I am so happy for you and Ben. One more down. Everyone is growing up and getting married! This is really exxxciting news! And Brenda thanks for calling.
