HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEN

I love Halloween. I love pumpkins and scary stories but mostly i love the smell of it all. Nutmeg. halloween and thanksgiving and fall for that matter smells like nutmeg. Today i have a day from hell. I have five hours of teaching and then drama club, tutoring and then i was invited to a school dance by the other school that i am now teaching at. Did i mention that? i am now teaching a 12th form at a neighboring highschool, Ferdinand I. It is a class full of girls, there is only one boy, he is really sweet. He kinda has to be surrounded by so many females.
So this past weekend i had an interesting experience. I climbed a mountain. When I say mountain I'm not talking about any dinky little thing, but an honest to God mountain. We had to use cables at one point to pull ourselves up. It took me and three other 11th graders 9 hours to climb up to the top and back down again. My knees hurt sooooo bad the next day. My body hurt the next day. But all the pain was worth the view. It was gorgeous. All the trees were various shades of the sun and we had to wade through leaves knee deep. Once we made it to the top you could see practically the whole country. The Carpathians to the north of us were full of snow and the river Olt to the south of us twisted all the way into the horizon. IT was impressive. Also impressive is the amount of information these kids know about every flower and tree. These city kids could name each plant and state it's use. "Nina, this flower is good for making tea. This tree is unique for...and on and on." Being a city kid myself, i can hardly decern the difference between an oak and a fir tree. Ask me to identify specific mountain flowers and their uses and I would laugh in your face. I have no clue. But every Romanian i have met, city and country alike can name every leave that falls. They are so attached to nature and to their country. It puts me in awe. They know their country!
Maybe I should take a biology class when i get home.
anyway i hope everyone enjoys today and eats lots of candy for me. I will let you know how the haunted house goes tomorrow. please let it go well!!
